The best way we can describe Axeperience is if you turn axe-throwing into an arcade machine while retaining the entire thrill of the experience. This is because instead of offering a pub-like environment, you’ll be greeted by bright neon lights and upbeat music—pretty cool!
One of our favourite things about Axeperience is their goal to maintain everyone’s safety while playing, which is why you won’t find alcohol being sold in their bar. Don’t worry though, they offer non-alcoholic beers and tons of other drinks as well as snacks to keep you company!
Furthermore, each session will be accompanied by an instructor so you’ll know you’re in good hands. Speaking of sessions, each one spans an hour and consists of training, tournaments and even trick shots!
Pro tip:
You can reserve your session days in advance through their official booking page. This is also better than doing walk-ins, as you can see the different packages and what they come with so you’ll know what to expect.

- Private Lane: £31/per person (based on 10 guests)
- Walk-ins: £20 – £32 (subject to availability)
Skeeter’s is your no-frills axe-throwing venue that offers an authentic experience. Here, the usual fancy neon lights and huge flat-screen TVs are traded for a rustic interior; one that consists of metal fences, exposed beams and of course, wooden boards as targets!
This setup creates a more simple yet engaging experience where everyone can see each other chuck the life out of their axes towards the targets. With that being said, Skeeter’s environment is also much more social than other axe-throwing venues in London.
The experience is made much better with their food and beverage offerings. From beers and cocktails to tacos, burgers and fries, you can count on Skeeter’s to satisfy your cravings!
Pro tip:
While waiting for your turn, you can try your hand at one of their mini-games for free! This is a great spot to socialise with other players, especially with a cold pint in hand.
4. Game of Throwing

Cost:
- Groups of 2: £34
- Groups of 3: £28
- Groups of 4: £24
- Groups of 5: £23
- Groups of 6: £22
If you’re looking for an affordable axe-throwing experience, then Game of Throwing should be on your radar! They offer reasonable rates per number of groups and the best part is that you won’t simply be playing for axes and targets.
For instance, you’ll be guided by an experienced instructor to make sure that the axes don’t fly towards other things besides the targets. Also, they feature an innovative game machine that projects different types of targets on their logs of wood, which we thought was awesome.
Pro tip:
If you’re looking for a more peaceful axe-throwing experience, we recommend visiting during the weekdays when there are fewer people playing.
5. Boom Battle Bar

Website: https://boombattlebar.com/
Address: Ground Floor 70, Basement and, 88 Oxford St
Contact details: +44 20 7286 0404
Operating hours:
- Monday to Wednesday: 11:30 AM to 11:30 PM
- Thursday to Saturday: 11:30 AM to 2:00 AM
- Sunday: 11:30 AM to 10:30 PM
Cost: £95 per lane per 30 minutes
Boom Battle Bar offers a far more futuristic version of axe-throwing but it doesn’t fall short on excitement as well! Here, you and your friends can enjoy an augmented reality version of the game so it’s 10x more innovative.
Instead of a plain board, you’ll get to chuck your axes at projected mini-games—our favourite of which is Duck Hunt. As you may have gleaned from its name, your goal here is to hit as many ducks as you can, which is easier said than done as they keep flying across the screen!
They also have a mini-game called Sniper where the target changes location every round. Fear not though, as they still offer the traditional bullseye game.
Pro tip:
After releasing your anger on the wooden targets, you can unwind with your friends by renting one of Boom Battle Bar’s karaoke rooms and jam out to your favourite tunes!
