1. Travelodge London City

Address: 20 Middlesex St
Hours: Check-in time: 3:00 AM, check-out time: 12:00 PM
If your trip involves London tours (tours London) and sightseeing, you’ll want to unwind after a long day. It’s a good thing Travelodge London City is quiet, so you’ll definitely get a good night’s sleep.
While it might not be the fanciest spot, it gets the basics right—clean rooms, comfy beds, and free Wi-Fi—perfect if you’re exploring all day.
The best part? It’s super close to public transport, so you can quickly reach the city’s top attractions.
It’s also just within walking distance of restaurants and shops.
That said, their amenities could be better. The rooms are clean and have comfy beds, but they may feel cramped if you stay longer.
The Travelodge London City may not have a real “wow” factor, but it does the job for a budget stay in the heart of London.
Conveniently located
“Conveniently located, a short bus ride from the theatre district and mainline stations. The room was clean and quiet, and the food was fine.
Unfortunately the staff were tricky to locate, and indifferent when you found one, my meal took almost an hour to arrive, mainly because the person who took my order “forgot to pass it to the kitchen “ even though I was the only person in the restaurant area.
Would I stay again..? Probably. Maybe they were having an off day”

The room was nice, super clean and quiet
“Travelodge London City exceeded all expectations – incredible value for money in such a prime location! The £10 breakfast buffet was a delightful surprise with its generous spread including classic English breakfast items (eggs, beans, sausages, bacon), fresh pastries, cereals, fruits, yogurt, and unlimited tea/coffee. The rooms were refreshingly spacious by London standards, with perfect temperature control thanks to efficient heating and AC systems – something I really appreciated coming from India’s different climate. The location puts you right in the heart of London, making it easy to explore major attractions. For budget-conscious travelers who don’t want to compromise on comfort, this Travelodge hits all the right notes and delivers far more than its modest price tag suggests.”

2. The Corner London City

Address: 42 Adler St
Hours: Check-in time: 3:00 PM, check-out time: 11:00 AM
If you’re looking for an affordable place to stay in London, The Corner London City is definitely worth considering.
It has a sleek, modern vibe and is super close to public transport. This makes it a great option whether you’re here for work or play.
The price is, of course, its ultimate highlight. Given its central location, it’s surprisingly much cheaper than many other places in the area.
Plus, it’s a short walk from Aldgate East Station. Those looking to visit East London will appreciate the easy access.
The rooms are comfy and clean, with free Wi-Fi included. A few guests have mentioned that the rooms are small but still stylish and cozy, so it’s not a huge issue.
That said, there are far better choices if you want more space or extra amenities. However, if you’re after a trendy and budget-friendly spot in an impeccable location, The Corner London City is a solid choice.
Amazing hotel with everything needed in a central location
“Amazing hotel with everything needed in central location next to the tube. They even give you a voucher for a drink if your room was not cleaned (do not disturb sign hanged on your door). Good breakfast, coffee/tee machine and iron self-service on each floor. Nice menu at the red and at the bar.
Great soundproofing, powerful hairdryer in the room. A bit small standard room for a stay of a week. We spent a lot of time outside so it did not bother us. Highly recommended!”

The attention to the smallest details is what made me extremely happy and relaxed
“I LOVED this hotel. The vibes were extremely relaxing. The friendly staff and the attention to the smallest details is what made me extremely happy and relaxed there. Check-in was extremely smooth very late at night, the staff at the time also went over and beyond by warming up my food since I had been on a long flight.!”

3. Point A London, Paddington

Address: 41 Praed St, Tyburnia
Hours: Check-in: 3:00 PM; check-out: 11:00 AM
Point A London is a solid pick if you’re looking for an affordable place close to Paddington Station.
The clean rooms come with free Wi-Fi, along with comfy beds—everything you need for a good night’s sleep. Plus, it’s in the middle of the city, so you can easily access restaurants, public transport, and major sights.
That said, if you plan on staying for a while, there might be better options. There’s no restaurant or lounge, so you won’t have much to do if you decide to chill indoors.
Also, if you’re in a room downstairs, noise from neighboring rooms can be a bit annoying.
Overall, if you’re mostly looking for a place to crash while you explore London, Point A London Paddington is a great, budget-friendly choice. It’s simple but gets the job done without the extra frills.
Great value for money
“The rooms are small and basic but have what you need and the bed was really comfy. Great value for money hotel. The staff bend over backwards to make you feel welcome. Always greeted with a smile and a hello. The staff really make this hotel. We will definitely stay again.”

Comfortable beds; clean rooms
“We chose this hotel for a group of 4 people for 3 nights. Breakfast was included in the price. One couple got a slightly smaller room but in a quieter part of the hotel, while we got a larger one but on the street side. However, everything was ok. The windows muffle street sounds. there was air conditioning in the room. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean. What more could you want 🙂 I highly recommend it!”

4. The Green Man

Address: 308 Edgware Rd
Hours: Check-in: 2:00 PM; check-out: 10:00 AM
What we love about this motel in London is its proximity to Paddington Station, making sightseeing and tours more accessible than most lodging options.
At The Green Man, rooms are tidy and have basic amenities like a flat-screen TV and Wi-Fi access. Plus, its proximity to public transport makes visiting London’s attractions and grabbing a bite at a nearby restaurant easy.
That said, don’t expect much more than the basics. Rooms are cramped, so it might feel tight if you have a lot of luggage.
There are no restaurants or fancy amenities either, and noise can be an issue if you’re facing the main road.
But honestly, if you’ve been struggling to find a decent, affordable place in central London, The Green Man is a solid pick for a quick, no-nonsense stay.
Bathrooms were clean, the service was great, and the location was perfect
“Stayed there in a 3 sharing room. The room is small but value for money. Bathrooms were clean, the service was great, and the location is perfect – right next to the subway. The only issue is the stairs since they are pretty narrow and steep, and carrying big luggage up and down might be difficult for some. Definitely recommend.”

Suitable for solo travel
“ I would say the bathroom is clean which cleaned regularly by staffs. The location of the hostel is very nice just 10 mins walk from Paddington station. However, the con is the room is very tiny and the bundle bed height is very limited. It’s very suitable for solo travel who don’t want to spend much and stay for couple days. The ground floor bar is popular that many people come there to have some beer or burgers.”

5. Marple Cottage Guest House

Address: 113 Woodside, Wimbledon
Hours: Check-in time: 2:00 PM; Check-out time: 11:00 AM
Marple Cottage Guest House isn’t your typical motel; it’s cozy and quiet, and feels more like crashing at a friend’s house than staying in a hotel—which is always a win.
The rooms are clean, comfy, and homely, too! It may not be located in the heart of London, but it’s still close to public transport, making it easy to navigate to different locations in the city.
You’ll be just a short walk from local shops and restaurants, so you won’t have to travel far for a bite to eat.
The best part? The hosts are incredibly friendly.
They go the extra mile to make you feel at home by adding thoughtful touches that make the place feel less like a commercialized hotel. Instead, it’s more like a cozy retreat where you can fully unwind.
Overall, Marple Cottage Guest House is far from being luxurious. However, if you want a comfy, affordable, and welcoming spot to stay, it’s definitely worth considering.
A super host
“I was looking to move accommodation in London, after 5 days at an accommodation chain. I found Marple Cottage on a google search of Wimbledon and called direct to speak to Nick (Manager), as I wanted to move the next day. Nick was very accommodating, given I wanted to move in considerably earlier than the advertised check in time. Marple Cottage is clean, tidy and very well run by Nick and Bridgette (Mum).”

Great shower, delicious breakfast
“I arrived on a same-day booking after an exceptionally busy day at work followed by a 3-hour drive. The owner was extremely welcoming, heated my own food up despite it being nearly 10pm and booked my friend in for the following evening. She advised me about parking and I moved my car into a better bay on her recommendation.
I slept well, the shower was great, breakfast delicious and just the right size. Again the owners were helpful and friendly. I couldn’t recommend this guest house more highly- particularly if it’s the personal touch that you like and would rather use a small independent business than a huge corporate chain!!!”
